XBand Modem BIOS: Review

X-Band was a video gaming modem for Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, released by Catapult Entertainment in 1995. By reverse-engineering particular multiplayer games and creating patches, Catapult made it possible to play Genesis and SNES games online over a dial-up connection. Some supported games were Super Mario Kart, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Doom, and NBA Jam. The service required a monthly subcription fee, or a purchase of a set amount of credits for going online. In addition to online gaming, the service also offered a online gaming magazine to read on your TV, game leaderboards, and an email system. The service went offline permanently in April 1997.
